Kathmandu, Nepal – In recent years, there has been a surge of political engagement among young people in Nepal. From participating in protests and demonstrations to running for office, young Nepalese are increasingly using the political process to advocate for issues they care about and bring about positive change in their communities.

“I believe that young people have a unique perspective and the energy and passion to make a difference,” said Rina Shrestha, a 22-year-old student who recently ran for local office. “We have the power to bring about positive change in our communities and our country.”
The increasing involvement of young people in politics has not gone unnoticed by the older generation. Many older politicians and political leaders have recognized the importance of engaging with and including young people in the political process.
“We need to listen to the voices of young people and work together to create a better future for all Nepalis,” said ex-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The involvement of young people in politics has also been met with some challenges. Some young people have faced criticism and resistance from older politicians and the public, and there have been instances of intimidation and violence against youth activists.
Despite these challenges, many young Nepalese remain committed to political engagement as a way to bring about positive change.
“We may face obstacles, but we will not be deterred,” said Shrestha. “We will continue to speak out and fight for the issues we believe in.”
As the political landscape in Nepal evolves, it is clear that young people will play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future. With their energy, passion, and commitment to change, Nepalese youth are poised to make a significant impact on the political scene.
