Solar For Nepal

Solar For Nepal

It’s very sure that Nepal will need another 10-15 years to complete all the hydro projects that they are working on, and then it doesn’t mean we run out of power cuts then.

If we do a little more research on how, the electricity uses is growing in Nepal rapidly and if we look ourselves at our full electricity potential at the completion of projects , with all the factory’s running on electricity, industrial growth, electric vehicles, metro and we using electric home appliances at home. Are we really sure that the hydro projects that will complete in few years will give us sufficient power ?

Nepal has a very unique geographical structure, we are destination for people to cherish nature, look for peace of mind, admire the untouched beauty of mountains and many such things.

But do you think it’s smart to run wired poles across National parks, or Everest Base Camp, or may be any trekking route or anywhere where nature is untouched. Nepal has to be solar friendly, Nepal needs to accept the fact that solar is something that will play a very important role in economic development of Nepal. Solar has to be the future, and it doesn’t mean we don’t need hydro powers we need them but there will always be space for solar in Nepal and we can not ignore that.

Solar prices seems to be coming down rapidly and which is a very positive thing, solar megawatts installation need less then a year to complete and solar never runs out of sun.

I believe Nepal has to be confident that, solar is not an alternative and needs to be mainstream and it’s a need that hydro can not fulfill.
